No more Done-For-You Social Media in 2024?

This is my biggest social media update for the new year: As a small business owner or freelancer, you need to be creating your own content. The time of hiring someone to do it all is over. This may sound shocking, frustrating, and just overwhelming but it’s the truth. People buy from people online and if you are not the face of your business and directing what is said, you are not going to make those connections on social media that lead to sales.

When I started managing social media accounts 8 years ago, I was creating most of the content myself and it worked. Things have changed drastically in the last 8 years and I’ve found in the last 2 years that creating my client’s content does not work as well anymore. Sure bigger companies can have a marketing team to craft their message and create content but smaller businesses need to get personal – that is their unique difference and that is how you call your ideal clients in.

I know that sounds scary but it doesn’t mean you’re on your own or that you can’t hire someone to help. It does mean you can’t ignore your social media though and hand it off to someone else all of the time. You will not get the results you want that way. You will still be frustrated with your social media (and you’ll be wasting money).

What do you do if social media isn’t your “thing”, you hate creating content, or you just don’t know where to start? Hire someone to guide you. This is where your money is best spent on social media management in 2024. It’s all about Done-With-You not Done-For-You social media content. This is how you will get the best results without getting too overwhelmed. What can a social media manager do for you if they aren’t creating all your content? Here are a few things you can hire out that will get you results in 2024:

  • Strategy: Work with a social media manager to come up with a strategy that aligns with your business goals each month/quarter. They can analyze the best platforms for you to be on, what type of content works best for your business, and can even give you a list of content to create so you’re never wondering what to post.
  • Scheduling: If time is an issue, hire someone to take the content you created and schedule it out for each platform.
  • Content Repurposing: If you have a blog, podcast, or YouTube channel that you consistently create long form content for, hire someone to repurpose it for social media. These content pieces are gold and already in your brand’s voice so it is much easier for a social media manager to create good content for you. With one piece of long form content, you can get 4-6 pieces of social media content!
  • Coaching: if you want to run your own social media but don’t know how – hire someone to teach you. Most social media managers have packages to teach you or your VA to create strategic content that works for your business.
  • Systems: Many clients tell me they know how to create their content but it takes too long. Creating social media systems can save a ton of time. Working with someone who can look at how you operate, what works best for you, and create a social media system you can repeat each month can be just what you need.

Being the face and voice of your business is important in 2024 but you don’t have to go it alone. If you want help with your social media but are not sure exactly what you need, connect with me here and I can give you some options. My 2024 goal is to help as many business owners as possible simplify their social media while getting more results!
