You should have a strategy when posting on social media. If not, your business’s voice can seem unclear and may not attract your target audience. If you are just starting out, make sure you at least consider these 3 important tips:

  1. This is the most important! Keep your audience in mind. Create content that will educate them (giving advice on your area of expertise), entertain them (funny videos/memes that relate to their interests), or inspire them (think motivational).
  2. Use visuals. No matter how great your content is, many will skip right over it without a great visual next to it. Use your own photos, free stock photos, a branded image created on Canva.com, or create your own short video.
  3. Use the 80/20 rule. 80% of your content should be like my first tip here (Educate, Entertain, or Inspire). 20% can be branded or promotional content. When posting promotional content make sure the call to action is clear so your audiences knows what you want them to do. One clear promotional post can be more productive than 5 unclear ones. In other words, don’t just talk about how great your product/service is, tell them exactly how to get it.

Using these 3 tips will help keep your audience interested and engage. Also make sure to keep your messages positive, keep your posting consistent, and remember quality always ranks higher than quantity. You are better off doing one quality post every day than 5 posts per day thrown together quickly without your audience in mind. Choose a posting schedule you can easily do and stick with it.
